Sheleen Jones-Adenle is a
native visual artist from New Orleans. She began
her study of the arts during her second year
at Xavier University. Jones studied under the
tutelage of such artists as Charles Graves,
Lloyd Bennet, and John Scott. Under the guidance
of renowned artist John Scott, Sheleen was encouraged
to pursue art with an open mind, a level of
objectivity, and a hunger for learning.
With great encouragement from Scott, Jones-Adenle
began an in-depth study of her course work.
Giving herself completely to the learning experience,
she often labored in the studio until the early
hours of the morning. As she became more involved
with various disciplines of the visual arts,
she was particularly drawn to sculpture. Jones-Adenle's
work has been likened to that of the Jazz singer
Ella Fitzgerald, "her art is disarming
with quiet dignity and honesty."
